Willie Sundqvist butterknife
This beautiful butterknife was carved by Swedish mastercraftsman Willie Sundqvist. The photograph was taken when he visited the Flint Mill in October 2002 to run a pair of courses on spoon carving and bowl carving. Note the detailed patterning on the handle, carved by a technique that Willie calls carved engraving. This is effectively taking out a v-shaped sliver of wood using the tip of a knife. More difficult than it sounds!
